Cyprus talks resume

Dünya Executive - - OVERVIEW -

Reunification negotiations in Cyprus resumed on April 11 when Turkish Republic of North Cyprus President Mustafa Akinci and Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades met in the buffer zone dividing the Mediterranean island. The meeting came a week after the House of Representatives of Greek Cyprus reversed a decision to commemorate a 1950 referendum on “enosis,” which sought to incorporate the island with Greece. That had sparked anger on the Turkish Cypriot side and led to the suspension of the previous round of negotiations.
