Twin towns of Giresun and Italy’s Alba to fight hazelnut disease with help of universities
The Italian city of Alba, where
Ferrero was established, is a nut producer, much like the Turkish town of Giresun. Now the communities have become twin towns to promote hazelnuts, said Marsili. “The most important disease for hazelnuts is a disease called ‘insineration,’ which is being fought against all over the world. We are working to develop an initiative involving universities with the Turkish side. The two cities will work in cooperation to fight against this disease,” he said.
