Tourist arrivals rise for first time in 20 months
The number of foreign visitors to Turkey increased in April to 2.1 million people, according to data from the Tourism Ministry. Turkish tourism saw an 18.1 percent increase when compared with the 1.75 million people who visited the country in the same period last year. April has seen the first increase after 20 consecutive monthly declines. Visitors from Russia were the most significant increase, surging 486 percent to 181,865 people. Meanwhile, considerably more Iraqis vacationed in Turkey. A total of 51,254 Iraqis visited Turkey in April, which is a four-fold increase from the previous year.
