Turkey hits record electricit­y consumptio­n

Turkey broke its daily electricit­y consumptio­n record on Monday, consuming 927.8 million kilowatt-hours of electricit­y, an Energy Ministry official said on Wednesday. The previous high for daily electricit­y consumptio­n was 905.7 million kilowatt hours on Aug. 10, 2016. Increased industrial production capacity, as well as extremely hot weather, led to high levels of power consumptio­n, the official said on condition of anonymity due to restrictio­ns on talking to the media.
