What does the US presence both in Afrin and Qandil mean?
SABAH MARCH 8 MEHMET BARLAS
“Afrin is being prevented from becoming a second Qandil,” the President’s spokesman, Ibrahim Kalin, said last week. Afrin and Quandil, where the global media and Turkish journalists regularly visited to interview PKK leaders and where U.S. military officials allegedly built a helipad, have one thing in common: the U.S. has been supporting terrorists threatening Turkey’s safety there. Because of this, the question on the tip of our tongues is obvious: Why is the U.S. betraying Turkey, its strategic partner and ally in almost every field? What does it mean to support more terrorist organisations targeting Turkey, as if FETO is not enough? Do these facts point to the end of the alliance?
