Consumer confidence index at 57.3 in October
Turkey’s consumer conf dence ndex stands at 57.3 n October, down 3.4 percent on a monthly bas s, the country’s stat st cal author ty revealed on October 23. The ndex value s calculated n cooperat on w th TurkStat and the Central Bank by measur ng tendenc es of customers. S nce the beg nn ng of th s year, the ndex value has rema ned between 73.1 and 57.3 - the h ghest n July and the lowest n October. All sub- nd ces, except probab l ty of sav ng ndex, saw a monthly decl ne n October. The ndex for consumer expectat ons for a better general econom c s tuat on n the com ng 12 months fell to 72.8, down from 74.6 n September. “The f nanc al s tuat on expectat on of households over the next 12 months, wh ch was 76.7 n September, decreased by 4.1 percent to 73.5 n October,” TurkStat sa d. It noted that the unemployment expectat on ndex also decreased 5.4 percent from the last month, stand ng at 63.6 n October, mean ng fewer people expected a fall n unemployment. Consumers’ expectat ons for ncreas ng sav ngs over the next 12 monthper od fell cl mbed to 19.2, up 2.3 percent from September.
