Trade gets boost at Bulgarian border

Steps are being taken to ease congestion at Turkey’s Kapikule Border Gate to Bulgaria, the Ministry of Commerce said last week. Under the new system, vehicles carrying goods to Bulgaria (excluding those subject to plant quarantine and veterinary checks) which either leave from Turkey or are transported under the Common Transit Regime or TIR Carnet will use the Hamzabeyli Land Border Gate, which only opens to Bulgaria. The measure comes after the Bulgarian trade minister, Ruhsar Pekcan, visited Turkey and is expected to minimize waiting periods at both the Kapikule and Kapitan Andreevo border gates.
