Consumer confidence down in December
Turkey’s consumer conf dence ndex fell n December compared to the prev ous month, accord ng to off c al data released on December 21. The ndex posted a decl ne of 2.3 percent to reach 58.2 n December, down from 59.6 po nts n November, a Turk sh Stat st cal Inst tute’s (TurkStat) report revealed. All sub- nd ces of the ma n ndex, except the probab l ty of sav ng ndex, saw slumps n the month. The unemployment expectat ons ndex - a gauge of sent ment about the health of the labor market - reg stered the b ggest fall w th 3.9 percent to reach 60.9. The f nanc al s tuat on expectat ons of households was the second-worst performer, down 2.9 percent to 75.3. The general econom c s tuat on expectat ons ndex also dropped by 1.7 percent to reach 76.
