Turkey to boost minimum wage by 26 percent

As of New Year’s Day, Turkey s ra s ng ts m n mum wage by over 26 percent to TRY 2,020 ($381.30) per month. The new gross m n mum wage, before deduct ons such as soc al secur ty prem ums and ncome taxes, w ll be TRY 2,558 ($482.90), Zehra Zumrut Selcuk, Turkey’s fam ly, labor and soc al serv ces m n ster, sa d on December 25. She sa d the h ke set by the m n mum wage comm ss on tops the country’s nflat on rate. As of November, annual nflat on was 21.62 percent, accord ng to the Turk sh Stat st cal Inst tute. The m n mum wage of TRY 2,020 l ras s for s ngle and ch ldless people, Selcuk added. “The m n mum wage for marr ed people w th three ch ldren w ll be TRY 2,155 ($406.90),” she sa d. In 2018, the net m n mum wage was TRY 1,603 ($333.30). Th s year, the average TRY/ USD exchange rate was 4.81.
