Arvato’s sale to Cagdas Holdings gets approval
Cagdas Holding has acquired the Turkey operations of Arvato, German Bertelsmann’s information technology and digital services company. Initially announced by daily DUNYA, the sales process received the required approval from the Competition Authoritiy allowing operations of the German company to be handed over to Cagdas Holding.
Founded in 1835 by Carls Bertelsmann, Bertelsmann has a turnover of more than 17.2 billion euros and 119,000 employees globally. With its RTL-like television station, which broadcasts in more than 50 countries, and nearly 30 radio stations, Arvato is the most recognizable brand of Bertelsmann. Arvato has a 22-year history and 70,000 employees and is the fast- est growing brand in the Bertelsmann group of companies with a turnover of 4.6 billion euros. Some of its assets were showcased in October. Among these, the Turkey operation has launched call center services in 12 languages including Spanish, Greek and Russian. With its more than 3,000 employees in 10 locations in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Elazig, Adana and in Gumushane provinces, Arvato’s Turkey turnover approaches 100 million euros. Founded in 1987 in Istanbul, Cagdas Holding is known for its investments in many areas from mining to energy, with its biggest stake in construction. The Holding, also has major investments in tourism, including the Swissotel in Bodrum. The Holding’s turnover is close to TRY 200 million Turkish lira.
