Over 1.37 million houses sold in 2018

Turkey recorded over 1.37 m ll on house sales n 2018, the country’s stat st cal off ce reported January 23. TurkStat sa d property sales fell by 2.4 percent last year, compared to the prev ous year. “Istanbul had the h ghest share of house sales w th 17 percent, or 234,055 sold houses,” t sa d. The cap tal Ankara and the Aegean prov nce of Izm r followed Istanbul w th 131,161 and 75,672 house sales, respect vely. “In Turkey, 276,820 of all sales were mortgaged sales and 1,098,578 were other house sales,” TurkStat sa d. The nst tute stated that around 650,000 newly-bu lt houses were sold wh le the rest were secondhand sales. Last year, property sales to fore gners posted an annual h ke of 78.4 percent to reach 39,663 un ts. By nat onal ty, Iraq s purchased the most homes at 8,205 un ts.
