Turkish investments abroad reaches $3.2B
The acceleration of Turkish investments abroad experienced in recent years is continuing. Direct investments abroad reached $3.19 billion in the January to November period of 2018, 64 percent of the investments coming to Turkey. In addition, if real estate and other types of direct investments are included, the 2019 outlook is improving.
According to Central Bank data, Turkey received $10.2 billion in investments from January to November, including real estate investments of $4.43 billion. The actual investments in production and business reached $5.43 billion and the net investment was $4.9 billion when divestments were eliminated.
Investments abroad for production and business from Turkey reached $3.5 billion while net investments were $3.19 billion when divestments were elimi- nated. When other equity investments are included in net investments abroad from Turkey the figure climbs to $3.25 billion. Net investments abroad accounted for 63.86 percent of the incoming net investments in the same category.
