Twin towers by young Turkish contractors in Montenegro
Montenegro, which is one of the smallest countries in Yugoslavia, is the new favorite of Turkish companies, from Doguş Group to Tosyali Holding, Global Holding to Net Holding. And a new company has been added to Turkish investments there mainly focusing on tourism. Podgorica-based Mia Investment, which consists of three investors from the young generation, representatives of the construction, is building two towers in the country’s touristic city of Budva, Kerim Ulker of daily DUNYA reported. The partners of the project named, ‘Mia Budva’, are Ahmet Kadir, the partner of Iki Desing Group, Habip Arikan, the Chairman of Arikan Yapi and Ahmet Ozan Sener, son of TAV CEO Sani Sener.
The project, which consists of two different 15-storey buildings, will be a residence with 208 units. A 144-room hotel will serve in the 5-star category. The project, which will be located on the shores of the Adriatic Sea, will also include a shopping center consisting of 29 stores on an area of 3,000 square meters. The total area of the project will be more than 50,000 square meters. Most of the hotels in Montenegro, where Russian tourists have shown interest recently, have 4-star facilities. New 5-star hotel investments in the country are mainly made by Turkish, Italian and U.S. investors.
The Mia Budva project received approval from the Ministry of Development and Tourism last week. If the deal is reached and the project of Turkish entrepreneurs continues, one of the most luxurious structures of Montenegro will be realized next year.
In 2015, the number of enterprises established by Turks in Montenegro was only 29. This number increased to 71 in 2016 and 435 in 2017. According to Melica Vuletic, manager at the country’s Tax Advisory Unit, this number jumped to 545 in 2018.
