Annual inflation stands at 19.67 percent February

Turkey saw an annual hike of 19.67 percent in consumer prices n February, the country’s statistica­l authority announced March 4. Last month, the annual inflat on went down 0.68 percentage points from 20.35 percent n January. TurkStat said the highest price increase on a yearly basis was recorded in food and non-alcoholic beverages w th 29.25 percent in February. “Miscellane­ous goods and services with 28.08 percent, shing, and household equipment with 27.59 percent, recreat on and culture with 20.43 percent and hotels, cafes and restaurant­s with 19.79 percent were the other ma in groups for high annual increases,” the institute said in a statement. TurkStat said consumer prices ticked up 0.16 percent n February on a monthly basis. “The highest monthly increase was 2.48 percent in health,” it said, adding: “The highest monthly decrease was 4.81 percent in cloth ng and footwear.”
