Survey forecasts no change in interest rates
Turkey’s Central Bank is expected to keep interest rates constant next week, according to an Anadolu Agency survey on April 19. The third monetary policy committee (MPC) meeting of 2019 will be held on April 25 to announce the Bank’s decision on interest rates. A total of 20 economists surveyed by Anadolu Agency forecast no change in interest rates. Last month, the bank kept its one-week repo rate - also known as the bank’s policy rate - constant at 24 percent. Including the next April 18 meeting, the Bank will hold six more MPC meetings this year. In 2018, the Bank held nine MPC meetings, as interest rates climbed from 8 percent to 24 percent over the course of the year.
