Turk­ish firms ranked among top 100 de­fense com­pa­nies

Turk­ish com­pa­nies se­cured their po­si­tions on the most pres­ti­gious de­fense in­dus­try list, De­fense News Top 100. In 2018, Turkey’s de­fense gi­ants posted nearly $4 bil­lion in rev­enues, ac­cord­ing to the U.S.-based mag­a­zine’s an­nual list, based on com­pany sales, re­leased on July 22. The coun­try’s largest de­fense elec­tron­ics com­pany, Asel­san, ranked 52nd in the list, up from 55th last year, with $1.8 bil­lion in rev­enues. Asel­san is ac­tive in mil­i­tary and civil telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions, radar, elec­tronic war­fare, de­fense, weapons, com­mand and con­trol and nav­i­ga­tion sys­tems. Avi­a­tion com­pany TAI ranked 69th with $1.05 bil­lion rev­enue while de­fense tech­nol­ogy firm STM and ve­hi­cle pro­ducer BMC came in 85th and 86th, with $564.8 mil­lion and $554.2 mil­lion in rev­enues, re­spec­tively. Mis­sile pro­ducer, Roket­san, which ranked 89th on the list, recorded rev­enues of $522.8 mil­lion. It was the 96th in the pre­vi­ous list.
