Turkey to speed up Is­tan­bul Fi­nance Cen­ter project

Turkiye Wealth Fund will back the ac­cel­er­a­tion of The Is­tan­bul Fi­nance Cen­ter (IFC) project, gen­eral man­ager of the fund said on Au­gust 27. “We aim to com­plete the project in 2021-end or at the be­gin­ning of 2022,” Zafer Son­mez told Anadolu Agency. The fund will be the ini­tial fi­nan­cial in­vestor in IFC’s struc­ture, he said. “We en­vi­sion not only fi­nance com­pa­nies but also firms run to­tally over­seas,” Son­mez added. Es­tab­lished in 2016, Turkiye Wealth Fund holds to­tal or par­tial shares of sev­eral Turk­ish com­pa­nies such as na­tional flag car­rier Turk­ish Air­lines, telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions gi­ant Turk Telekom, pri­vate lenders Zi­raat and Halk banks, as well as Turk­ish Petroleum and Borsa Is­tan­bul.
