Web pres­ence in­creas­ing among com­pa­nies

The re­sults of a sur­vey con­ducted by the Turk­ish Sta­tis­ti­cal In­sti­tute (TurkS­tat) re­leased last week showed that 66.6 per­cent of en­ter­prises in Turkey had web­sites - in­clud­ing so­cial me­dia ac­counts - as of Jan­uary 2019, up from 66.1 per­cent last year.

TurkS­tat said that al­most one out of ev­ery two en­ter­prises - 49.6 per­cent - used so­cial me­dia net­works in 2019 com­pared to 45.7 per­cent in 2018.

Some 11.2 per­cent of all en­ter­prises use e-com­merce meth­ods while 70.7 per­cent use their own web­sites or mo­bile ap­pli­ca­tions and 62.3 per­cent use on­line stores and mar­ket­places, the in­sti­tute said. “In 2019, 13.7 per­cent of en­ter­prises em­ployed ICT spe­cial­ists whose main job is to de­velop, op­er­ate or main­tain ICT sys­tems or ap­pli­ca­tions. This ra­tio was 11.6 per­cent in 2018,” it added.

Al­most 95 per­cent of all Turk­ish en­ter­prises have in­ter­net ac­cess in 2019, ac­cord­ing to the sur­vey re­sults.

While 93.3 per­cent of en­ter­prises use a fixed broad­band con­nec­tion for in­ter­net, 16.6 per­cent use in­ter­net con­nec­tion with be­low 10 megabits per sec­ond (Mbps), 62.4 per­cent use 10-99 Mbps and 21 per­cent use over 100 Mbps.
