Web presence increasing among companies
The results of a survey conducted by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) released last week showed that 66.6 percent of enterprises in Turkey had websites - including social media accounts - as of January 2019, up from 66.1 percent last year.
TurkStat said that almost one out of every two enterprises - 49.6 percent - used social media networks in 2019 compared to 45.7 percent in 2018.
Some 11.2 percent of all enterprises use e-commerce methods while 70.7 percent use their own websites or mobile applications and 62.3 percent use online stores and marketplaces, the institute said. “In 2019, 13.7 percent of enterprises employed ICT specialists whose main job is to develop, operate or maintain ICT systems or applications. This ratio was 11.6 percent in 2018,” it added.
Almost 95 percent of all Turkish enterprises have internet access in 2019, according to the survey results.
While 93.3 percent of enterprises use a fixed broadband connection for internet, 16.6 percent use internet connection with below 10 megabits per second (Mbps), 62.4 percent use 10-99 Mbps and 21 percent use over 100 Mbps.
