Reducing the environmental impact of the WTC 2022 Congress in Lyon was one of the main objectives and challenges of the organizing committee. Besides different actions during the event, organizers decided to dedicate part of the registration fees of all participants to support worldwide international organizations and/or non-governmental organization (NGO) acting in environmental projects such as carbon compensation. Organizers also encouraged the sustainable mobility to the Congress venue and took actions to reduce the on-site footprint.
