The Koç and Sabanci families both have superb collections of Anatolian and Ottoman art, and you’re more than welcome to view them. Start at the Sadberk Hanim Museum / Piyasa Cad. 27 / Büyükdere / 242 3813 / 10am-5pm / closed Wed / sadberkhanimmuzesi.org.tr / housed in a beautiful three-storey yali by the sea, rich in antiques and artefacts dating back to 6000 BC, plus costumes, jewellery and an excellent array of Iznik tiles and plates. Once you’re done, grab a cab and head back along the coastal road to town for the Sakip Sabanci Museum / Istinye Cad. 22 / Emirgan / 277 2200 / 10am-6pm TueSun, till 8pm Wed / muze.sabanciuniv.edu / a truly remarkable array of manuscripts and beautiful calligraphy works. It also houses a gourmet treasure, Müzedechanga (see Rest./Smart), for lip-smacking lunch.
