“We apparently ignored promotion”

The words of Herwig Callewier, the board chairman of Belgium Natural Stone Federation (FEBENAT) and European Representa­tive of Natural Stone Institute, were invaluable. Callewier put emphasis on these points:” The porcelain and ceramic industries are going well. It’s our responsibi­lity to explain the value and diversity of the natural stone to designer. We’ve seen in this period that we’ve spent so little effort for the promotion of natural stone. We’ve trusted its superiorit­y so blindly that we couldn’t see the approachin­g danger. Until today we’ve been limited to only our own associatio­ns. If we’re to fight against ceramic and porcelain, we must take global steps and prepare a marketing budget that is worth millions of dollars.” Anıl Taneja said, “Artificial products are in our lives and the technology feeds them very well. The sector is losing blood in all the world. To prevent it we must create new areas to restore balance and focus on new marketing campaigns.”
