The Champions of design
A total of 404 projects competed in the contest organized by IMIB under the motto, “Get rid of the extra.” “Smarbl” in the professional category and “Çukur Taş” in the student category won the grand prizes.
In the Industrial and Architectural Natural Stone Design Contest, whose eight edition was organized by Istanbul Mineral Exporters’ Association (IMIB) this year, the “Design Oscars” were given to their winners. A total of 404 works under the two categories competed in the contest held with the motto “Get rid of the extra.” The awarding ceremony of the organization, in which 74,500TL were given to the 14 ranking projects, was held at Haliç Convention Center within the scope of “Turkey Design Week.” Faruk Yılmaz won the grand prize in the professional category with his project, Smarbl, while Yağız Soysal and Hira Nur Nazlı were the champions of the student category with their project, Çukur Taş. In addition, the owners of the ranking projects in the student category were granted a scholarship to study abroad.4
ÇUKUR TAŞ:
Çukur taş, yerli doğal taşların mimarı uygulamada cephe elemanı olarak nasıl kullanılabileceğini ele alan bir projedir. Çalışma prensibi olarak taş parçalarının içinin belli bir parametreye göre oyulmasıyla taşın ısık geçirgenliğinin aynı parametrelerle artırılması amaçlanmıştır. Bu geçirgenliğin sonucunda gorüntülerın taşın içinden cepheye yansıtılması mümkün olmuştur.
