Now it’s time to win

D Marble, an exemplary partnership, was founded in Diyarbakır. Four rivals, Beden Marble, Dimer Marble,

Diyar Mining, and Medos Mining came together and bought D Marble formerly owned by Demirören Group.

It is clearly not just a common step. It is a project that started to reactivate an 8-year inactive factory and 12 quarries, providing local employment opportunities and make Diyarbakır marbles popular again. The opening of the factory, which has been completely renewed since May 2019, was held with a glorious ceremony in Lice.

Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank, Governor Münir Karaoğlu, Istanbul Mineral Exporters’ Association’s President Aydın Dinçer, and Turkey Miners Association’s President Ali Emiroğlu attended the ceremony and cut the opening ribbon of the factory together. Stating that the four companies realized an exemplary investment, Minister Varank said, “We are beholding what the private sector is capable of doing when they come together. Lice will be a province of investments. In the first phase, 125 people are employed here. This number will increase.” Bülent İpek, board chairman of D Marble, underlined these points: “Hani and Kocaköy marble basins are some of the important basins of Turkey and the whole world. They will now contribute to Diyarbakır’s and surrounding provinces’ economies by starting production. D Marble is aiming at employing 500 people, achieving export of $20 million and a domestic sale of 100 million TL in 3 years. Blocks from these quarries will be exported to China, India, Taiwan, Singapore, Italy, Spain. And from the factory processed products will be exported to the Gulf countries, Iraq, Europe, and the USA.”
