Düşüş var ama karamsar değiliz
We’re not pessimistic in spite of decline
Türk doğal taş sektörü 2019 yılının ilk iki ayında ihracatta yüzde 5,81 değer kaybına uğradı. Geçtiğimiz yıl OcakŞubat döneminde 270.306.714 Dolar olan doğal taş ihracat rakamı 2019 yılının aynı döneminde 254.593.178 Dolar’a geriledi.
Turkish Natural Stone incurred 5,81 loss in the value of exported natural stone in the first two months of the year. The sector’s natural stone revenue, which had been 270.306.714 dollars in the January-February period of 2018, was reduced to 254.593.178 dollars in the same period of 2019.
The shrinking in the block market, which has been going on since last year caused depression in the sector. Even though there are companies that turn the economic hardship into an opportunity, the general air is not very pleasant.
That being the case, the unfortunate situation encountered on the last day of the fair brought in minds some concerns about the future of natural stone trade relations between China and Turkey, We hope, Turkey, a country that is rich in raw materials and is aware of the importance and of innovation will be able to get over this difficult process successfully. Now, let’s analyze all together the export trends in the last two months of 2019.
Ongoing After Effects in China
Total value of block marble exported to China, the main block market for Turkey, was 84,860,342 dollars in the first two months of 2019. This same figure was 102.358.873 dollars in the same period of last year. This figure shows a 17.10% decrease in value. When we look at the amount of stone exported to the People’s Republic of China, we see the same decrease rate. China, which imported 533 575 684 kg of natural stone from Turkey in January-February 2018 period, imported 442 762 709 kg of stone in the same period of 2019. This was equal to 17.02 percent decrease.
Figures in block marble - travertine market

In the January-February period of last year, Turkish natural stone sector had exported a total of 677,457,912 kilograms of blocks and generated $ 120,633,552.dollars of total export revenue.
Hard fall in Indonesia
Indonesia, which has a great potential in terms of economy, is estimated to be the 7th largest economy in the world in 2030. Indonesia, which has made great strides in the construction sector, which is the main application area of natural stones, also revived the natural stone industry. The 91.27 percent increase in exports in the January-February period of last year was an evidence to this. Noticing the attractiveness of Indonesia, the sector had participated in the marble fair in Jakarta, Indonesia in November 2018 with the hope of expanding its market share and introduce its products. However, the recent sharp decline in the export statistics created a shock. The decline in exports to this country is 68.52 percent, while the revenue is only $ 634.379. However, this same figure was 4.798.519 Dollars in the first two months of last year.
