Georgia ranks fifth in the World Economic Freedoms Index

Georgia, which is the leading country in Central Asia in terms of low bureaucrac­y and ease of doing business, ranked fifth in its last annual report “Economic Freedom in the World-2021”. Armenia also drew attention with its 15th place in the index.

Turkey ranked 114th among 165 countries and regions in the annual report “Economic Freedom in the World-2021” published by the Canadian think tank Fraser Institute together with the Bendukidze Free Market Centre with a score of 6.54. Turkey ranked 100th with 6.69 points in the report published in 2018. Turkey reached the highest place in the ranking in 2008 with 66th place. The index considers issues such as strong money, legislatio­n, public size, the legal system, and property rights.

Georgia drew attention with its fifth place in the Central Asia region. The index classifies countries as free, Q2, Q3, and non-free based on an average score of 0-10. The countries in the first place are as follows: Hong Kong: 8.91, Singapore: 8.81, New Zealand: 8.56, Switzerlan­d: 8.48, Georgia: 8.26, US: 8.24... Georgia ranked 7th in the world in terms of ease of doing business in a previously published study of the World Bank. (www.fraserinst­itute. org)
