Making an impact
UAE history comes alive
The history of the UAE is a journey that travels from the ancient past to the present day in all its guises and successes, one that young and old are keen to learn through books, teachers and film.
The ‘HistoryAtHome’ initiative puts history under a different lens, one that magnifies history and brings it alive for those aged 7-15 years old, as they delve into the UAE’s rich past via an interactive online platform. It’s a fun way for the young to travel back 125,000 years to find out what makes history, and to discover the people who helped to unravel it.
‘HistoryAtHome’, launched by the Department of Culture and Tourism, truly enhances students’ knowledge of the history of the UAE through immersive, video led platform. The edutainment platform effortlessly draws in those who log on through a dynamic series of videos, quizzes and 360° panoramic visuals. Taking students on the journey are various characters, including a historian, an archeologist and an anthropologist, who are all on a quest to uncover inspiring facts and fascinating information about local heritage.
Throughout the game, players earn points and compete to win real-life prizes, including passes to Louvre Abu Dhabi, Qasr Al Hosn, CLYMB and Warner Bros., and the chance to work on a real archaeological dig for a day.
The edutainment platform is inspired by ‘History of the Emirates’, released by Image Nation, and is an ongoing programme which aims to deliver new releases every few weeks.
