Soaring 200 metres above Dubai’s Palm Jumierah, the Aura Skypool Lounge was the striking setting for the AD Design Awards ceremony
Asmooth lift zooms up to the 50th floor of The Palm Tower, a futuristic structure located right at the point where the trunk of Palm Jumeirah branches out into fronds dotted with mega mansions and A List getaways. Here, the shiny new Aura Skypool Lounge is a beguiling amalgamation of island living and bright city lights, as all of Dubai’s iconic skyline unravels beyond the venue’s 360-degree infinity pool.
On one side of the Kokai Studio designed interiors – that instantly transport us to a Mediterranean paradise – is the Burj Al Arab with the Burj Khalifa twinkling on the horizon. On the other, unmatched views of Dubai Marina and Ain Dubai, the world’s largest observation wheel, speak to the city, and indeed the Middle East’s, towering ambitions. As guests make their way around the pool – the world’s highest of its kind – through the olive tree lined deck, Atlantis reveals itself. From this vantage point, Palm Jumierah unfurls in front of onlookers, offering rare birds-eye views of this man-made wonder and the horizon beyond.
While the venue was transformed into an insideout lounge for the AD Design Awards ceremony, on any other day, it offers a duo of experiences: a chic pool deck where guests can dip between the cool waters of the swimming pool and plush loungers, sunbeds and VIP cabanas that dot the deck, and a luxe, laid-back lounge bar.
Of course, while the infinity pool is the undoubtable highlight, the experience is elevated by a menu with a pan-Asian twist. Masterminded by head chef Craig Best, it is perfect for guests to graze on as they soak up the sun – and views – from the enviable rooftop location. auraskypool.com
