PATTERN PIONEERS
Fans of Missoni Home return to its collections time and again for their joyous mix of graphic and floral patterns. This year’s launches won’t disappoint on that score, with the plump Puntaspillone poufs upholstered in Biarritz, a glorious tropical flower print on velvet; and Grandma, an Art Deco-esque armchair covered in Barbuda, a bold geometric jacquard. Many a gaze, however, will turn to the brand’s new experiments with ornamentation: the Miss Wood dining tables and chairs in solid beech, whose smooth finish boasts an ombré effect that shifts between honey and charcoal tones; and the Art Glass collection of tables, which serve as functional sculptures. Handmade in Italy from tempered glass, these statement pieces are embellished with abstract designs in colourful resin, and set atop sleek steel bases. During the Salone, Missoni Home is also unveiling a new tableware range, created with historic manufacturer Arnolfo di Cambio, which sees its hallmark zigzag, herringbone and stripe prints translated onto china, glassware and cutlery. Together, the new launches embody art director Rosita Missoni’s philosophy for her own home, “where there should always be a surprise around the corner, something to arouse emotion and curiosity.” missoni.com
