ELENA SALMISTRARO

-

The Milanese artist, illustrator and product designer, who studied at the Politecnico di Milano, founded her own studio when she was just 25 years old. Significantly influenced by the thinking of Alessandro Mendini, Salmistraro, who is also often referred to as “the bird of paradise” of the Milan design scene, became known for her colourful, imaginative designs – whether in glass, ceramics, textiles or furniture. As a child she loved to draw monsters and fantasy creatures, and now counts numerous wellknown companies among her clients (think Cappellini, CC Tapis and Moooi). “I’m interested in work that combines illustration, design and fine art,” says Salmistraro, whose creations often hover between fantasy and reality. During the Salone del Mobile, she will present new designs for Cappellini and Bosa, as well as a jewellery collection for Alessi. Elenasalmistraro.com
