FRANCESCO MEDA

-

Is it a blessing or a burden to be the son of a design icon? For Francesco Meda it was not an obstacle to have one of the most prominent Italian designers, Alberto Meda, as a father. They now share a studio in Milan’s Via Savona and also design together for companies such as Dada, Kartell, Molteni and Volta. “I grew up with design as a matter of course and was always surrounded by creativity,” says Francesco, who was fascinated by the materials and tools, sketches and models in his father’s studio from an early age. The young designer studied in Milan and worked in London with Ross Lovegrove and Sebastian Bergne before striking out on his own in 2008. He recently designed the wooden stool “Woody” for Dada, and reinterpreted design icons for Acerbis as part of the Remasters series to bold effect. francescomeda.com
