At least 11 killed due to floods in Jor­dan

DEATH TOLL ROSE TO 11 af­ter causal­ties were found af­ter flood ripped sev­eral ar­eas of Jor­dan last week, ac­cord­ing to the gov­ern­ment.

Three died in Dabaa area near the Desert High­way in Al Jiza district while some oth­ers were found dead in sunken cars near the city of Mad­aba gov­er­norate, south­west of the cap­i­tal Am­man, Min­is­ter of State for Me­dia Af­fairs, Ju­mana Ghu­naimat, was quoted as say­ing by Pe­tra.

Se­vere floods hit Maan gov­er­norate, Wadi Mousa area, Pe­tra, Mad­aba and other ar­eas in Jor­dan fol­low­ing heavy rain­fall across the coun­try. More than 60 peo­ple were res­cued and the wounded were taken to hos­pi­tal, some of whom were in crit­i­cal con­di­tion.

Ghu­naimat said that hun­dreds of civil de­fence mem­bers were still con­tin­u­ing their search for the miss­ing.
