Lebanon, Romania to cooperate in fighting corruption
ROMANIA’S AMBASSADOR TO Lebanon, Victor Mircea, said last Tuesday that Lebanon must form a committee to fight corruption similar to that of Romania, local media reported.
“Lebanon should look into Romania’s expertise in fighting corruption since
2005 with the creation of a specialised committee for that purpose,” Mircea was quoted by the National News Agency (NNA) as saying.
Mircea’s comments came during his meeting with Lebanon’s state minister for combating corruption, Nicolas Tueni.
Mircea discussed with Tueni the possibility of signing an agreement between the two countries to cooperate on fighting against corruption.
“The two also agreed on exchanging expertise in this field,” according to NNA.
Mircea said that Romania and Lebanon have a long, friendly and historic relations especially that a big number of Lebanese businessmen work in Romania.
The Romanian Embassy in Lebanon is keen to identify and bring to fruition the opportunities for economic cooperation and the promotion of mutual knowledge and understanding between the two countries.
