Swis­s­port se­cures con­tract with Salam Air

As per the five-year con­tract, Swis­s­port will de­liver hub han­dling ser­vices for SalamAir at Mus­cat In­ter­na­tional Air­port

Oman’s SalamAir has an­nounced the sign­ing of a five-year con­tract with Swis­s­port, who has been se­lected to de­liver hub han­dling ser­vices at Mus­cat In­ter­na­tional Air­port. Begin­ning from the 1 Jan­uary 2019, the Swiss Avi­a­tion Ser­vices com­pany will pro­vide the Omani car­rier with a full range of ser­vices that in­cludes ev­ery­thing from pas­sen­ger ser­vices to ramp op­er­a­tions.

From the Omani cap­i­tal, the global air­port ground ser­vices and cargo han­dling ser­vice provider will over­see the low-cost car­rier’s flights to three do­mes­tic and eleven in­ter­na­tional des­ti­na­tions in nine coun­tries.

“We are de­lighted that SalamAir has cho­sen Swis­s­port to serve its val­ued cus­tomers at Mus­cat In­ter­na­tional,” said Nils Knud­sen, chief com­mer­cial of­fi­cer of Swis­s­port In­ter­na­tional AG.

“In 2017, when we started up in Mus­cat, Oman was a green­field site for us. We are proud of how quickly we es­tab­lished the Swis­s­port op­er­at­ing stan­dards, de­liv­er­ing the qual­ity ser­vices our clients trust.”

To date, SalamAir op­er­ates four Air­bus A320 air­craft from its base in Mus­cat and is ex­pected to re­ceive an ad­di­tional five air­craft that are sched­uled for de­liv­ery in 2019. In ad­di­tion to the new con­tract for de­liv­ery of ser­vices at Mus­cat In­ter­na­tional Air­port, Swis­s­port was pre­vi­ously tapped by SalamAir to over­see its daily flights at the pri­vate air­port of Mukhaizna (UKH).

En­ter­ing the Omani mar­ket back in April 2017, the avi­a­tion ser­vices provider worked closely with joint ven­ture part­ner Al Jar­wani Group to es­tab­lish its JV, Swis­s­port Oman. With a bud­ding port­fo­lio that con­tin­ues to grow with each pass­ing month, Swis­s­port Oman’s list of clien­tele in­cludes the likes of fly­dubai, Air Ara­bia, Turk­ish Air­lines, Pe­ga­sus, Air New Zealand and SalamAir.

“We are proud to pro­vide hub han­dling ser­vices to this fast-grow­ing air­line in the Sul­tanate of Oman,” com­mented Mark Skin­ner, Swis­s­port’s se­nior vice pres­i­dent Mid­dle East & Africa.

“Swis­s­port is com­mit­ted to ful­fil and sur­pass SalamAir’s high ex­pec­ta­tions re­gard­ing on-time per­for­mance and qual­ity,” he added.
