EAT JOINS FORCES WITH GULF AIR
Gulf Air’s pilots will receive simulator training for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner
Gulf Air has signed a contract with Etihad Aviation Training (EAT), who will deliver full flight simulator training for the carrier’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner pilots.
Building upon the recent signing of a MoU between the two companies at the Bahrain International Airshow in November, Gulf Air will dry lease EAT’s Full Flight Simulators at the training facility located in Abu Dhabi. As per the contract, Gulf Air instructors will oversee the training programme at the Etihad Training Facility.
“We are happy to work hand in hand with our friends in Etihad Aviation Training and use their facilities to train our flying crew. This is the start of ongoing projects with Etihad Airways and Etihad Aviation Training,” commented Gulf Air’s chief operations officer, Captain Suhail Abdulhameed Ismaeel.
To date, EAT operates 11 Full Flight Simulators (FFS) including three Airbus A320 FFS devices, as well as two Boeing 787 devices. Etihad’s training arm currently has plans in the works to expand the facility, EAT expecting to soon offer a third B787 FFS device.
In addition to its facility in Abu Dhabi, EAT also manages a flight training college in Al Ain, which offers a cadet pilot training programme.
“Etihad Aviation Training is pleased to welcome Gulf Air instructors and pilots to the comprehensive training facility in Abu Dhabi. 2018 has been a strong year for the organisation since its relaunch in January as a commercially focused operation offering aviation training to a global client base,” shared Paolo La Cava, accountable director at EAT.
