HILTON CHECKS IN AND MARRIOTT CHECKS OUT AT AL HABTOOR CITY

Business Traveller (Middle East) - - Upfront -

IT’S BEEN A BUSY SUMMER at Al Habtoor City with Habtoor Hospitality taking over management of three Marriott branded properties, and a franchise agreement has been signed with Hilton Hotels, which will provide branding, marketing and other services.

Al Habtoor City now comprises Habtoor Palace, LXR Hotels & Resorts (formerly St. Regis); V Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton ( W Dubai); and Hilton Dubai Al Habtoor City ( Westin Dubai), whose lobby is pictured.

Internal changes include The Polo Bar, World Cut Steakhouse and Silk Spa at Habtoor Palace; V Lounge, V Deck and V Gym at V Hotel; and The Market, Ribs & Brews, Elixir Spa & Health Club, Executive Lounge and Kids Club at Hilton Dubai.

In all, Marriott International ended four contracts this summer with Habtoor Group after it stopped managing the St. Regis Dubai Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club in July. Marriott’s withdrawal from Al Habtoor City was a “mutual decision reached amicably between the parties”.

Fredrik Reinisch takes up the reins as Complex GM from Habtoor Grand Resort in Dubai Marina. Hilton was widely expected to step in given Al Habtoor’s ownership of Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah.
