IOTA Hotel Tbilisi

-

BACKGROUND

Iota is the 15th letter of the old Georgian Alphabet, which was taken out in the 19th century. As with English, it stands for ‘a small quantity’, which is appropriate for this cosey design hotel.

WHERE IS IT?

Centrally located on Mikheil Lermontovi Street, a short walk from Freedom Square.

W H AT ’ S IT LIKE?

Certainly different from the spatial Hualing hotel, it offers an intimate, urban hospitality experience. The modern touches are a pleasant contrast to the old district.

ROOMS

I stayed in a Corner Room which offered city views and featured a walk-in bathroom with neatly designed shower and sink. The drinks (teas/coffees), private bar and safety deposit box were neatly tucked away behind a curtain and the media hub allows you to connect your laptop to the TV.

FOOD AND DRINK

The F&B is good but uncomplicated with the IOTA Garden hosting breakfast – and I enjoyed lunch on the terrace, especially the ultra-tender kebabs – while the rooftop Ghumeli terrace (retractable cover) features open grill delights with views to match. More recently, the Wine Observatory has opened featuring the finest hand-picked Georgian wines.

MEETINGS

There are three meeting rooms, and the woodcovered spaces are designed for small discreet meets.

VERDICT

A chic hotel which is sure to resonate with younger travellers
