THREE OF THE BEST

Golf Digest Middle East editor Kent Gray picks out his ones to watch in this month’s trio of tournaments

Business Traveller (Middle East) - - Golf -

ABU DHABI Tommy Fleetwood

The Ryder Cup star is chasing a Falcon Trophy ‘three-peat’ on The National course at Abu Dhabi Golf Club. German Martin Kaymer has won Abu Dhabi three times but no one has achieved a pure hat-trick in consecutive seasons. Big hitting American pals Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson won’t make Fleetwood’s tilt at history any easier.

DUBAI Henrik Stenson

The former (British) Open champion won the Dallah trophy on 2007 and looks in good touch for the 30th edition at Emirates Golf Club. He put in a strong performance at Tiger Woods’ tournament in the Bahamas coming off minor elbow surgery and boasts a proven desert pedigree. If he gets his putting going, watch out...

KSA Dustin Johnson

The former world number one is the main drawcard but keep an eye on American Ryder Cup teammate Patrick Reed at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club. The new course in King Abdullah Economic City makes predictions tricky but DJ will have Abu Dhabi under his belt, post the (very short) ‘off-season’, while Reed is a proven contender in the Middle East and desperate for a first title outside the US.
