Ascott opens first African residence

THE OPENING OF Kwarleyz Residence in Accra marks The Ascott Limited’s first property in Africa. Overlooking Kofi Annan Street in the Airport Residential Area, the 40-unit serviced residence contains studios and apartments.

The operator, which has also secured a contract to manage Ascott 1 Oxford Street in the same city this year, anticipates strong business travel demand.

Thomas Wee, Ascott’s Deputy Managing Director for the Middle East, Africa, Turkey & India, said it sees potential for serviced residences in Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal and “will explore opportunities” in Nairobi, Kigali and Addis Ababa.
