Bahrain scraps PCR and quarantine on arrival
PASSENGERS ARRIVING AT Bahrain International Airport (BIA) no longer need to conduct a PCR test.
Precautionary quarantine requirements for all passengers arriving in the kingdom have also been removed. The lifting of restrictions was announced by Bahrain’s Civil Aviation Affairs (CAA) and came into force on February 20.
The announcement was based on the recommendations made by the National Medical Taskforce for Combatting the Coronavirus (COVID-19), Bahrain News Agency reported.
The taskforce also announced updated protocols for contacts of active COVID-19 cases, which also came into effect on February 20.
According to the revised measures, contacts of active cases are no longer required to undergo a precautionary period of isolation. This includes individuals who do not hold a green shield on the BeAware application.
BIA recently became the third airport in the Middle East to receive a five-star rating from Skytrax, the world’s top airport and airline rating body. The accolade recognises the high standards of BIA’s facilities and services.
