Weber Shandwick takes on PR duties for UAE’s Mashreq Bank
Mashreq Bank has appointed Weber Shandwick to manage its PR in the region. The move comes as the Bank ends its 50th year celebrations and looks to the future, it said.
A statement said: “The relationship will see the agency – part of the Middle East Communications Network (MCN) – work closely with the bank’s in-house team to develop closer and more productive relationships with the region’s media, and solidify its position as the region’s most progressive and innovative community focused bank.”
The account was previously with Hill & Knowlton Strategies.
Sridhar Iyer, head of marketing and Mashreq Neo at Mashreq Bank, said: “We are excited to be working with an agency partner who shares our vision and passion and brings us closer to our customers by communicating more effectively.
“As we enter our 51st year, we believe it is the perfect time to engage more closely with all our stakeholders, customers and the community. At Mashreq, we are constantly developing innovative products and services that benefit our customers, and having Weber Shandwick on board ensures that we can convey these benefits more clearly and crisply.
Weber Shandwick’s managing director, Andreas Keller, said: “The Mashreq brand has more than 50 years of heritage of ‘making possible’, and we are looking forward to helping bring that promise to life. Both companies share core values of thinking out of the box and evolving to meet changing needs, which we hope to translate into unique and engaging campaigns that speak to Mashreq’s diverse audiences.”
Mashreq Bank has a strong business presence in markets around the region including Egypt, Kuwait, and Bahrain. Its branch network extends across the UAE, with more than half of households banking with Mashreq Bank, it said.
Headquartered in Dubai and with a network of 12 offices and affiliates across the region, Weber Shandwick MENA specialises in developing and implementing panArab, multi- market regional and international campaigns.
