Memac Ogilvy has an­nounced the ap­point­ment of


as the agency’s new man­ag­ing di­rec­tor for the UAE.

Berthelot’s ap­point­ment fol­lows the an­nounce­ment of Pa­tou Nuyte­mans as MENA CEO in Septem­ber 2017. Nuyte­mans also led the UAE agency for one year af­ter suc­ceed­ing Memac founder and chair­man Ed­mond Moutran, who shifted to ex­ec­u­tive chair­man. In his new role, Berthelot will lead the agency’s UAE op­er­a­tions, draw­ing on more than two decades of ex­pe­ri­ence span­ning across three con­ti­nents. For­merly with Im­pact BBDO Dubai for six years, Berthelot has pre­vi­ously helped spear­head the creative and fi­nan­cial growth of Unilever’s sec­ond largest brand, Lip­ton, as global busi­ness di­rec­tor. He also par­tic­i­pated in the early growth and suc­cess of Publi­cis Groupe’s cre­atively renowned agency Mar­cel in Paris as man­ag­ing di­rec­tor. Leo Bur­nett has an­nounced the ap­point­ment of as deputy man­ag­ing di­rec­tor of Leo Bur­nett Dubai. Re­port­ing to ex­ec­u­tive re­gional man­ag­ing di­rec­tor Ka­mal Di­machkie, she will be an in­te­gral part in the growth of the creative agency. Jam­mal will also be the key point of con­tact for se­nior clients across the or­gan­i­sa­tion and lead in­no­va­tive and creative so­lu­tions for cur­rent and prospec­tive ac­counts.

Jam­mal brings 25 years of ad­ver­tis­ing ex­pe­ri­ence across the MENA re­gion. She served as man­ag­ing di­rec­tor for Leo Bur­nett Jor­dan and Iraq be­fore mov­ing to


Dubai to lead some of Leo Bur­nett’s pre­mier ac­counts – McDon­ald’s, Bel and Fer­rero. In ad­di­tion to her time at Leo Bur­nett, Jam­mal has held se­nior roles in global dig­i­tal creative shops within Publi­cis Groupe in­clud­ing Saatchi & Saatchi, as well as D’Arcy, Pro­mo­seven and We­ber Shand­wick.

Shardan, who is orig­i­nally from Jor­dan, has more than 13 years of ex­pe­ri­ence in the ad­ver­tis­ing in­dus­try. Af­ter earn­ing her bach­e­lor of arts, she joined BBDO Dubai in 2005. In 2009, she de­cided to move to Florence, Italy, where she stud­ied and grad­u­ated from Polimoda, the renowned in­ter­na­tional In­sti­tute for Fash­ion De­sign and Mar­ket­ing, be­fore she re­turned to ad­ver­tis­ing in 2010.

Back in the re­gion, she joined Y&R, fol­lowed by JWT in 2012, Mul­lenLowe MENA in 2014, and No­mads, where she worked as a client ser­vic­ing di­rec­tor be­fore she joined Ser­vi­ce­plan in Au­gust 2018. Shardan’s ad­ver­tis­ing back­ground has seen her coun­sel and build global brands in­clud­ing Emi­rates Air­line, Pep­siCo, Nes­tle, Mercedes Benz, Mon­delez, Pizza Hut, Bloom­ing­dales and HSBC.
