Ex­ec­u­tive chef, Shangri-La, Oman

Paul Wieser has joined Shangri-La Barr Al

Jis­sah Re­sort & Spa and Shangri-La Al Husn Re­sort & Spa in Oman as re­sort ex­ec­u­tive chef. He will look af­ter the culi­nary op­er­a­tions of 18 restau­rants and bars across the two re­sorts. Wieser’s first ma­jor project will be the launch of a brand-new venue de­vel­oped in­ter­nally by the re­sort team which will be a South­east Asian ca­sual din­ing con­cept com­ing soon to Al Ban­dar ho­tel at Shangri-La Barr Al Jis­sah Re­sort & Spa. Orig­i­nally from Rot­thal­muen­ster, Ger­many, Wieser has pre­vi­ously worked in Oman as the ex­ec­u­tive chef of Shangri-La Al Husn, and he takes up his post hav­ing over­seen the pre-open­ing of Melia Yan­gon in Myan­mar. With over 25 years in th ein­dus­try, Wieser has many pro­fes­sional achieve­ments. He was awarded with first place at the Vic­toires In­ter­na­tionales de la Cui­sine com­pe­ti­tion in Frank­furt and sec­ond place at World Com­pe­ti­tion of Vic­toires In­ter­na­tionales de la Cui­sine in Lyon, France in Jan­uary 2001. He has worked with Sof­i­tel, Novo­tel, and Steigen­berger.
