Spanish beef introduced to the UAE
Provacuno, Spain’s largest agro-food inter-professional association is behind the push into the Middle East
Provacuno, Spain’s largest agro-food inter-professional association that represents 85% of the beef sector in the country is making a push to introduce Spanish beef into the UAE. As part of a program called ‘What a Wonderful Beef ’ from the European Union, Provacuno has hosted several high profile events in October to create awareness about Spanish beef.
A group of influencers including top chefs, bloggers, and other media from the UAE were invited to Spain to visit the farms and processing facilities behind Spanish beef. With tours around venues throughout the country, they were given the chance to see the full procedure from farm to fork and see for themselves the high standards of care and hygiene in the process.
Provacuno was also the platinum sponsor of the Spanish National Day Dinner, hosted by the Embassy of Spain and the Spanish Business Council held on October 10, 2018 at Fairmont Hotel Abu Dhabi. The gala event was attended by the ambassador of Spain, H.E. Antonio Alvarez Barthe, government officials, diplomats, media, and influencers.
Backed by the European Union and the Spanish government, Provacuno intends to open up various channels and avenues for strategic alliances with producers of the meat from Spain. Jose Ramon Godoy, International Director, Provacuno said: “The Spanish beef industry has demonstrated a significant rise in the exports within the European Union, thanks to the quality of its national products. UAE’s global reputation as an international culinary hub makes it an attractive market for us to introduce our products. Currently, a few Spanish restaurants in the city are using our beef. Provacuno’s efforts will definitely pave way for Spanish beef into all major restaurants, supermarkets and distributors in the country.”
