Il Borro operator to launch restaurant on Bluewaters Island
Alici will be a seafood restaurant inspired by Italy’s Amalfi coast
Orange Hospitality, the operator of Il Borro Tuscan Bistro at Madinat Jumeirah is set to open an Italian seafood restaurant on the new Bluewaters Island in Dubai.
Alici, which means ‘anchovies’, is inspired by southern Italy’s Amalf i coast and will offer fresh, high quality seafood i n a two-storey setting with spectacular sea views.
The menu features Amalfitana and south of Italy specialities that will vary according to season and sea availability. Alici head chef Domenico Santagada will serve up contemporary seafood dishes plus some meat options, adapting and creating his menus according to what the fisherman bring in each day to ensure freshness.
Frisella with anchovies and burrata is a classic starter along with Italy's f inest caviar selection and Alici's signature crudo dish, the Italian raw seafood platter. Dubai diners will also taste smoked, salted, and dry cod, homemade cavatelli with cuttlef ish ragu, tagliolini with ricci di mare served up in an urchin ceramic plate, hand crafted in Italy exclusively for Alici. The homemade Amalfi lemon mousse and lemon cheese cake is promised to be the pick of the desserts.
The wine list features sev- eral local labels from South Italy, mainly organic white wine to be paired with seafood, as well as the best spirits from the rest of the world. An excellent cocktail list, inspired by the scent of selected Italian i ngredients and spirits will make Alici a popular after-dinner spot.
Piero Giglio, director of operations for Orange Hospitality, shared that the restaurant will offer an appetising and varied lunch and dinner options that will be prepared fresh daily, directly on t he premises with respect to the customers’ preferences.
The licensed 230-seater restaurant is over two f loors and it will also have an outdoor terrace where guests can enjoy the perfect dining experience overlooking the Arabian Gulf and the Dubai skyline.
