GBM AP­POINTS COUN­TRY GEN­ERAL MAN­AGER FOR OMAN Eddy Ab­boud to lead GBM Oman’s busi­ness in the Sul­tanate

Gulf Busi­ness Ma­chines (GBM) has ap­pointed Eddy Ab­boud as Gen­eral Man­ager of the com­pany’s Oman busi­ness.

In his new role, Ab­boud will be re­spon­si­ble for spear­head­ing GBM Oman’s ef­forts in sup­port of the Sul­tanate’s Dig­i­tal Oman Strat­egy, which strives to trans­form Oman into a mod­ern dig­i­tal so­ci­ety. He will also over­see client re­la­tion­ships in the Sul­tanate, sup­port­ing pub­lic and pri­vate sec­tor or­gan­i­sa­tions as they em­bark on their dig­i­tal transformation jour­neys.

“Eddy has been part of the GBM com­mu­nity for over 10 years and we are thrilled to wel­come him on-board our lead­er­ship team in Oman,” said Martin Tarr, CEO of GBM. “We are wit­ness­ing the Omani gov­ern­ment in­creas­ingly pri­ori­tise tech­nol­ogy de­vel­op­ment across the Sul­tanate as they rec­og­nize the in­stru­men­tal role it plays in their ef­forts to tran­si­tion into a knowl­edge-based econ­omy, as out­lined in their Vi­sion 2020 plan. LOG­I­CAL OP­ER­A­TIONS GETS NEW RE­GIONAL DI­REC­TOR Subela Bha­tia to drive the com­pany’s growth strat­egy in the Mid­dle East, Tur­ket and Africa

Log­i­cal Op­er­a­tions, a provider of in­for­ma­tion tech­nol­ogy in­struc­tor-led course­ware, has ap­pointed Subela Bha­tia as the new re­gional di­rec­tor for Mid­dle East, Turkey and Africa.

Bha­tia joins the EMEA team and will be based out of the of­fices of EMT Dis­tri­bu­tion (Log­i­cal Op­er­a­tions’ re­cently signed dis­trib­u­tor part­ner) in Dubai, United Arab Emi­rates.

In her role, Bha­tia will work along­side the cur­rent di­rec­tor for Mid­dle East, Naseema Akram, and will be re­spon­si­ble for driv­ing Log­i­cal Op­er­a­tions next stage of growth in the re­gion.

“My ex­pe­ri­ence in the Mid­dle East, Turkey and Africa has helped me hone strong re­la­tion­ships with cus­tomers and man­age large ac­counts with gov­ern­ment, academia and en­ter­prises which pro­vides a solid plat­form as I tran­si­tion into this new role with Log­i­cal Op­er­a­tions,”added Bha­tia.

“The re­cruit­ment of Subela in uni­son with the pre­vi­ously an­nounced dis­trib­u­tor agree­ment with EMT Dis­tri­bu­tion in­di­cates Log­i­cal Op­er­a­tions clear in­tent of our growth am­bi­tions as well as fo­cus on pro­vid­ing our ex­ist­ing and new cus­tomers with world class sup­port,” said James Varn­ham, man­ag­ing di­rec­tor, EMEA at Log­i­cal Op­er­a­tions.


Charles Mey­ers takes lead at Equinix

Equinix has ap­pointed Charles Mey­ers to the po­si­tion of pres­i­dent and chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer, ef­fec­tive im­me­di­ately.

The global in­ter­con­nec­tion and data cen­tre com­pany has ap­pointed Mey­ers, who will also join the Equinix board, to suc­ceed Peter Van Camp.

Van Camp has served as in­terim CEO since Jan­uary 2018. He will re­sume his role as ex­ec­u­tive chair­man of the Equinix Board of Di­rec­tors.

“Charles is an out­stand­ing leader who has been a ma­jor con­trib­u­tor to Equinix’s suc­cess over the past eight years, play­ing crit­i­cal roles in the com­pany as we have quadru­pled in size, grow­ing from $1.2B in rev­enue to the

$5B plus we ex­pect to gen­er­ate this year,” said Peter Van Camp, Ex­ec­u­tive Chair­man for Equinix. “Charles brings that rare com­bi­na­tion of a world-class op­er­a­tor com­bined with a pas­sion and drive for strate­gic in­no­va­tion. These char­ac­ter­is­tics, and his proven track record of de­liv­er­ing value for our cus­tomers and our share­hold­ers, make him an ex­cel­lent choice to suc­cess­fully im­ple­ment our strat­egy and take ad­van­tage of the mar­ket op­por­tu­ni­ties ahead.”

Eddy Ab­boud will take on the GM role for GBM Oman. Bha­tia says Log­i­cal Op­er­a­tions is ahead of the game to tackle the grow­ing need for em­ployee skills de­vel­op­ment in META. Mey­ers will take on the CEO and pres­i­dent role at Equinix with im­me­di­ate ef­fect.
