SIEMENS OPENS SECOND UAE MINDSPHERE CENTRE
Centre in Abu Dhabi will develop solutions based on Siemen’s IoT OS MindSphere for process industries
Siemens has opened a new MindSphere Application Center in Abu Dhabi, which will focus on developing connected solutions for process industries based on the company’s IoT solutions.
The new centre, at Siemens Middle East HQ in Masdar
City, will focus on applications for oil & gas, water, and waste water, and is already working on solutions for regional customers in these sectors.
In oil and gas, Siemens is using AI techniques - such as Artificial Neural Networks - to identify anomalies in flow-rate patterns and allow better decision-making in complex upstream, midstream and downstream operations.
With embedded self-learning algorithms, existing historical data can be used to process large quantities of incoming data, detecting anomalies to minimise downtime, production losses and protect customers’ critical assets.
The centre is the second of three such centres planned for the UAE, which are intended to allow close cooperation with customers to create solutions using the Mindsphere cloudbased internet of things operating system, and other technologies including AI and data analytics, to address specific challenges for their industries.
Siemens opened its first regional centre in Dubai to cater for the aviation and logistics market, joining a global network of 20 centres with
900 software developers, data specialists and engineers.
“We recognise the importance of the Middle East’s industrial sector, and believe the MindSphere Application Centre will play a significant role in accelerating the use of digital technologies in rapidly-expanding industries such as oil and gas and petrochemicals,” said Fida Khalil, Head of MindSphere Application Centre, Siemens Middle East.
