DAY IN THE LIFE

Channel Middle East finds out from a market personality about their role, their routine and what inspires them to come into work each day

Channel Middle East - - Day In The Life -

TIMELINE THURSDAY, 6th DECEMBER, 2018 We join Feras Masoud, Regional Channel Manager - MEA, Infoblox as he shares how he spends his day at work.

09:30

I usually start with quickly scanning my emails, then I start assigning priorities based on the important tasks that I need to finish that day. I leave the less important tasks such as regular operations work to the middle or end of the day depending on how busy I am.

18:00

I review my daily schedule thrice during the day. The first thing in the morning, noon and finally late evening I review my next day’s schedule to avoid any surprises and to be prepared.

07:30

I usually wake up around 07:30, but this also depends on different things such as: scheduled meetings on the day, the tasks I have to complete during the day and if I’m on a business trip or in the country.

10:30

My favourite part about the job is when I meet channel partners and distributors. They are what I call my “assets” and the main success factors in my role. Success in this role I believe, requires interpersonal skills, ability to prepare business plans and follow through on defined objectives and strong communication skills.

19:00

Maintaining a healthy body is very important and is needed to be able to do my work in a very active way. I try as much as possible to do outdoor sports three times a week and each time I try to spend one quality hour either running, swimming or playing football.

08:30

I typically start my journey to work around 8:30 and I drive to work.

11:30

Time management is very important in this role. I usually utilise available resources and delegate tasks to relevant team members and constantly monitor the progress to ensure that there is no deviation and the objectives are achieved within the desired timeframe. Training the team is key to ensuring that they are able to handle these tasks in the right way.

20:30

I try as much as I can to spend quality time (minimum two hours) with my wife and kids on a daily basis. Weekends, especially Friday is always booked for my family and we do lots of common hobbies such as fishing, swimming or bowling depending on the weather and what the kids would like to do that week. But in general we love the outdoors.

13:00

In most cases I have a working lunch with my colleagues so we can have quality time discussing some issues while enjoying a meal together. In some cases I like to have a business lunch with my channel partners and distributors. This not only helps with business planning but is also a great relationship building exercise.

09:00

I reach the office at around 09 hours if there is no early morning meeting. The first thing I do iwhen I get to my desk, is to drink my coffee and scan my daily calendar to plan and manage my time well.

15:00

I measure my performance based on three factors. The first is over achieving my assigned business targets for the region quarter over quarter. The second is when I see my partners over achieving their assigned targets and doing good margins, and the third is when I accomplish the other assigned channel business goals.

24:00

I normally retire to bed between midnight and 01am. But during weekends I may stay awake until around 02am.
