Watch Heaven Without People

-

Written, directed, produced and edited by Lebanese theatre director Lucien Bourjeily, Heaven Without People had a sold-out screening at the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF). Not only did the film create a big buzz among critics and audiences, the film was also awarded by DIFF with the Special Jury prize.

Heaven Without People is an honest and modern insight into family, relationships and Lebanese society at large. The film centers around Josephine who has gathered her family to celebrate Easter together. As the matriarch of the family she sees it as her duty to bring them together to share a meal and reconnect despite the obstacles in her way. And the obstacles are many. First and foremost it’s the sprawling nature of her family, all with an interesting backstory, big personalities and opinions that clash when they get together, many of them not having shared a meal together in years. From taboo topics and the underlying tensions within the family and how they manage the drama, it all unfolds around the family dinner table and we get to watch!

With impressive performances from the ensemble cast, we definitely recommend you watch Heaven Without People! Given the attention the Arab film The Insult received internationally since it was nominated for Best Foreign Film in the recent Academy Awards, it’s important for us to support films from the region and one way you can do that is by heading over to the cinema.

You can watch Heaven Without People which will screen at DIFF365@VOX Cinemas at the dedicated theatre (Cinema 9) at VOX Cinemas, Mall of the Emirates in Dubai from March 29 to April 11. Tickets are available online at the VOX website, uae.voxcinemas.com and at the box office at VOX Cinemas, Mall of the Emirates.
