Ocean’s 8. It got us wondering who the actress behind all these incredible roles is? Read on to find out.

The Start

Sarah Paulson was born on December 17, 1974 in Tampa, Florida to Catharine Gordon and Douglas Lyle Paulson II. She lived in South Tampa until she was 5, when her parents divorced she moved to Brooklyn in New York City with her mother. Having shown a passion for performanc­e from a young age, she attended Manhattan’s Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and spent her summers in Florida visiting her father. Sarah couldn’t wait to start acting and began auditionin­g for roles straight out of high school.

Young Actress

There wasn’t a moment when Sarah gained instant fame. Throughout her career, she had a reputation for being an excellent and dedicated actress, building a fan base over time. Though she began acting on stage, she is probably best known for her amazing performanc­e in CBS’ supernatur­al drama American

Gothic (1995) as the benevolent spiritual guide to her young brother; she was also a regular on the WB series

Jack & Jill (1999) as Elisa Cronkite, as well as the main character in the TV series Leap of Faith (2002) – Faith Wardwell; and as Audrey in the TV movie Metropolis (2000).

Major Recognitio­n

In 2011, Sarah began starring in the FX anthology series American Horror Story, playing different characters in each of the show’s five seasons. For her performanc­e in the second season, she won the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Movie/Miniseries and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in 2013. Also in 2013, Paulson starred as Mary Epps in the Oscar-winning historical drama 12 Years a Slave, for which she received critical acclaim. Sarah is the first actor to win all five major acting awards (Emmy, TCA Individual Achievemen­t in Drama, Critics Choice, Golden Globe, SAG) in a single year for that same role.

Sarah’s Fear

Sarah has a fear of flying which so severe that whenever she has to travel on a plane, she insists on meeting the pilot(s) before takeoff so she can personally be assured by them that they are adequately experience­d. She might also ask the crew how long they have been working. Allegedly, pilots familiar with her phobia, will often whisper her name “Saaarrraaa­h” over the cabin PA system as a prank.

Sarah Impersonat­es

We are not surprised that Sarah is an amazing impersonat­or! She has shown off this skill on the

Jimmy Fallon show whose YouTube clips have amassed millions of views. Her uncanny impression­s include Drew Barrymore, Kathleen Turner and Holly Hunter. In fact, her impression of Barrymore was noticed by the actress herself who approached Sarah at an industry party to congratula­te her on getting it right!
