A LESSON LEARNT?

-

I(like many others) called it. I (like most people with common sense) said it wouldn’t last. And even though it’s not something to savor or gloat about, I can’t help but roll my eyes at everyone’s surprise that the whirlwind union of pop singer Ariana Grande and otherwise unknown Pete Davidson has come to an end. Just as quickly as it started.

Apparently, he’s devastated. The SNL comedian (that hardly any of us had even heard of until he got with the singer) is ‘still in love’ with her and is hoping for a reconciliation. She has taken a break from social media and has retreated to her mother’s home in the Bronx, avoiding fans and paparazzi while he licks his wounds. They have both, allegedly, started to cover up the tattoos they got of each other within a few weeks of dating. Funnily enough her brother Frankie Grande posted a video message of support to his sister (yeah, weird – this is from a guy who willingly went into the Celebrity Big Brother House, so it’s safe to say that he’s hungry for fame).

While neither party have been public about the reasons for the split, reports have suggested that Ariana decided to end the relationship because of Pete’s ‘lack of support’ after Mac Miller’s death in September. Rapper Mac Miller was Ariana’s ex who recently passed away. Allegedly it was difficult for Pete to support her grieving over the death of her ex and Ariana needed more of a stable foundation to process the grief. Fair enough.

So what can we learn from this? Other than to remember that my predictions are usually right we should also learn that we should never take any of these celebrity relationships seriously. I would say we should take them seriously after they get married but, does anyone remember Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries 72-day marriage?

On a side note, Kris Humphries has now quit the NBA, and is “enjoying the single life” as a real estate agent in Minnesota as well as opening a number of Five Guys fast-food franchises and is first franchise partner for Crisp & Green. US Magazine reported that Humphries “tries to stay as far out of the spotlight as possible” and “truly wants zero association” with his ex-wife, who filed for divorce on Halloween in 2011. After the split, TMZ reported that Humphries ‘knew’ Kim had cheated on him with Kanye West when her now-husband failed to make their wedding guest list. It seems that given what Kanye turned out to be, Kim should have probably stayed with Kris? Thoughts?

In any case, the reason why I make this comparison is simple – Kris Humphries was stung just enough by what fame can do to your life and learned that he’s more likely to have a better life away from the lime light. So although, Pete Davidson is suffering from an alleged broken heart, he should see this as a blessing in disguise – retreat from the lime light and focus on his comedy instead of the absolute circus of having 24 hour security to keep him safe from Ariana’s insane fans. I’m pretty sure Ariana and Pete both dodged a bullet by not walking down the aisle.
